The AI Cat Dance Trend Has Two Memes Right Now, and Your Cat Can Do Both From One Photo

Make an AI cat dance video from one photo. Copy-paste prompts for the dancing cat trend and the clapping cat meme, plus the templates behind each.

AI cat dance hero image, a chocolate-brown kitten's original photo followed by three frames of the AI video in which it stands up and dances, and a cream long-haired cat's original photo followed by three frames in which it sits up, grins, claps and salutes

Our kitten has never stood on its hind legs. In the clip we made from its photo, it springs up at the one-second mark, pumps both paws to a beat and ends with them in the air, and the blanket under it never moves.

That is the AI cat dance trend as it stands in November 2026. Two memes are running at once: the dancing kittens that took over TikTok at the end of August, and the clapping black cat that arrived at the end of September. Both began as AI clips of someone else's cats. Below are the templates behind each, then two photos of our own cats turned into both clips with prompts you can paste.

Key Takeaways

  • The AI cat dance trend is two memes: the dancing cat meme from late August 2026 and the clapping cat meme from late September.
  • The biggest CapCut template, LA CALABZA, had passed 807,000 uses by November 6, 2026, and it pastes three stock kittens over your footage.
  • One photo and the AI video generator put your own cat in the clip;theprompt does the choreography.
  • The two prompts below cover both memes, with timecodesso the jump, the claps and the salute land where you want them.
  • Keep the cat a real cat: paws instead of hands, and the same blanket or sofa from the first frame to the last.

What Is the AI Cat Dance Trend on TikTok?

Search the cat filter hashtags and you get three different things under one name. Only two of them can be remade with your own cat.

The Meep version is a lens applied while you film, and one post using it had 58.4 million plays by November 6, 2026, so it earns the row. The other two start from a still of a cat, which is what a video model needs.

The Dancing Cat Meme Templates Behind It

The biggest carrier is a CapCut template named LA CALABZA by GreenScreamMemes, published on August 28, 2026. It is a 14-second green-screen clip of three kittens dancing upright, the middle one in a black cowboy hat and the right one in glasses, and by November 6 it had 807,943 uses and 3.94 million plays. You drop it over your own footage. The kittens are the same for everyone.

Cats Dancing by I Green Screen Things does the same with two kittens in blue bathing caps, at 113,842 uses, and the TikTok post at the top of the Google results for dancing cat meme links to it. The pure AI version, two kittens standing up and bouncing in a bathtub, came from a post by @vizzion.ai on August 29 that had 11.7 million plays.

One template takes your cat instead. ai dance kicau mania by Ji [TOP], from April 2026, had 95,241 uses, and its preview is a fluffy cream cat standing up and dancing in front of a wooden door. That is the format this guide builds on: your photo in, a dancing version out.

The Clapping Cat Meme, the Newest Version

The clapping cat is a single clip. Know Your Meme traced it on October 13, 2026 to Instagram user merkurianin, who posted it in late September: he feeds his cat, and the cat stands up, applauds with a human grin and human hands, and points at him.

The explainer calls the clip AI-generated and does not name the tool.

By the end of September the cat was a TikTok effect named AR Cat Clapping, which drops the same purple-black cat into whatever you are filming. The most-played post we found with it had 12.0 million plays and 1.3 million likes on November 6. On CapCut, a one-clip template simply named Trend by Mila69429 had 52,214 uses. Its preview is a baby in a bear onesie clapping, and the tutorial post that links it swaps in a cat photo.

Both carry a stock cat. If you want your own cat to clap, the effect will not do it, and that is what the second prompt below is for.

How to Make an AI Cat Dance Video From One Photo

A template gives you someone else's kittens. To get yours, you describe the dance and let a video model animate the photo.

Atlas Cloud runs Seedance 2.5, which takes one photo as the first frame and plays the next 10 seconds from your text. The fur, the blanket and the camera angle carry over from the photo, and the audio is generated in the same run.

The photo is a kitten looking up from a grey blanket. At one second it springs up, from two to four it pumps both paws and shakes its head, around six it drops into a crouch and spins, and it ends with both paws straight up and its eyes on the camera. Same kitten, same white chest and paws, same blanket, 10 seconds, no cuts.

Method 1: Make Your Cat Dance in the AI Video Generator

Sign in, open the Video Generation tab and follow the numbers on the screenshot:

  1. Stay on the Video Generation tab.
  2. Keep Seedance 2.5 under Models.
  3. Upload your cat photo to First Frame and leave Last Frame empty. The clip keeps the photo's shape, so a 4:5 photo gives a 4:5 clip and a 9:16 crop gives portrait.
  4. Paste one of the prompts below into the Prompt box.
  5. Under Settings, pick 1080p.
  6. Set Duration to 10 and switch Audio on.
  7. Click Run.

AI cat dance steps in the Atlas Cloud video generator, numbered boxes on the Video Generation tab, the Seedance 2.5 model, the kitten photo in First Frame, the dancing cat prompt, 1080p, the 10-second duration with Audio on and the Run button

Pick a photo with the whole cat in it and space above its head. A cat that fills the frame has nowhere to stand up. Ours was shot from above, so the kitten rises toward the camera instead of out of the top of the picture.

Method 2: Send the Same Prompt Through the API

Running a pet account and want a clip per cat? The API takes the same photo and prompt in one request.

Step 1: Create an API key. In the console, open Settings and create a key under API Keys. One key covers every model on the platform.

Atlas Cloud console Settings page showing the API Keys panel, the Create API Key button and one masked key used for AI cat dance requests

Step 2: Check the request format. The Atlas Cloud API docs cover authentication and the video endpoint.

Step 3: Send the request and poll. Put a public URL of the cat photo in the image field:

plaintext
1curl -X POST https://api.atlascloud.ai/api/v1/model/generateVideo \
2 -H "Authorization: Bearer $ATLASCLOUD_API_KEY" \
3 -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
4  -d '{
5 "model": "bytedance/seedance-2.5/image-to-video",
6 "prompt": "<paste one of the prompts below>",
7 "image": "https://your-cdn.com/your-cat.jpg",
8 "duration": 10,
9 "resolution": "1080p",
10 "generate_audio": true
11 }'

The response returns a prediction ID. Poll it until the status reads completed, then download the MP4 from the outputs array:

plaintext
1curl https://api.atlascloud.ai/api/v1/model/prediction/<prediction_id> \
2 -H "Authorization: Bearer $ATLASCLOUD_API_KEY"

Same endpoint and same key for every video model, so trying the dance on another model is a one-line change to the model string.

AI Cat Dance Prompts for Both Memes

Both prompts share one skeleton. The first sentence lists what may not change: the fur color, the markings, the blanket or sofa, the camera. One line keeps the cat alive and a real cat. Then the time codes say what happens, second by second, and the last beat tells the model where to stop.

The Dancing Cat AI Prompt

Dancing cat AI prompt time codes in four frames, the kitten springing up at 1 second, pumping its paws at 3 seconds, crouching into a spin at 6 seconds and holding both paws up at 10 seconds

plaintext
1The small chocolate-brown kitten from the reference image, same dark brown fur, same white patch on its chest and white paws, same big blue-grey eyes, same fluffy grey blanket under it, same high camera angle looking down at it, the camera does not move. It stays a real kitten the whole time: soft fur, it blinks, its ears turn, its tail whips for balance, no extra limbs. Big, fast, exaggerated moves, every move lands hard on the beat, like a tiny club dancer who has lost its mind. 0-1s: it stands on the blanket looking up at the camera, then a loud bass beat kicks in and its ears snap up. 1-2s: it springs straight up onto its hind legs in one fast jump, front paws already pumping. 2-5s: full-on high-energy dance: it pumps both front paws up and down fast on every beat, bobs its head hard like headbanging, shakes its hips side to side fast, and bounces on its hind legs so hard it hops off the blanket. 5-7s: it drops low into a crouch, pops back up, throws both paws in the air, windmills them in big circles, then does two fast spins in a row. 7-9s: it jumps high into the air, lands back on its hind legs, kicks one hind leg out to the side then the other, still pumping its paws, tail whipping behind it. 9-10s: it slams both paws straight up into a final pose, freezes mid-dance with eyes wide, and holds that pose to the final frame. Realistic fur and lighting, nothing else enters the frame, no text on screen. Sound: a loud fast-tempo EDM beat around 128 BPM with a heavy bass drop at 2s, and paw thumps on the blanket on the beat.

Swap the fur, the markings and the blanket for what is in your photo and keep everything else. Our first draft asked for a sway, a wave and one spin, and the kitten stood up and swayed. The version above, with big, fast moves written onto every beat, is the one that reads as a dance.

Our guide to writing Seedance 2.5 prompts covers the time-code habit in more depth.

The Clapping Cat AI Prompt

Our second cat was already sitting like a person on the sofa, paws on its chest, which happens to be the meme's opening pose.

Clapping cat meme made with Seedance 2.5, a fluffy cream-and-white cat on a grey sofa sits up, grins with its teeth showing, claps its front paws seven times, salutes and slumps back into its original pose

From 2.5 to 7 seconds it claps seven times, paws swinging wide apart between claps, and keeps the toothy grin the whole way. At 7.6 seconds a paw goes to its brow, then waves, and for the last second and a half it slumps back into the pose from the photo. The sofa, the herringbone blanket and the green cushion never shift.

plaintext
1The fluffy cream-and-white long-haired cat from the reference image, same peach-and-white fur with a white chest and belly, same big bushy tail, same dark round eyes, sitting on its bottom on the grey sofa with its hind legs splayed out and its front paws resting on its chest, same blue herringbone blanket under it, same beige throw and dark green velvet cushion behind it, the camera does not move. It stays a real cat the whole time: soft fur that moves as it moves, it blinks, its ears turn. 0-1.5s: it sits exactly as in the photo and blinks once. 1.5-2.5s: it straightens its upper body and sits up tall like a little person on the sofa, lifts its front paws in front of its chest, and opens its mouth into a wide, toothy, human-like grin that it keeps for the rest of the video. 2.5-7s: it claps: it swings its front paws wide apart, about a body width, then slaps them together in front of its chest, pad on pad, and immediately swings them apart again, over and over, one clap every half second, at least eight claps in a row, the paws never stay pressed together, never a praying pose, its shoulders bouncing with each clap, exactly like the viral clapping cat meme. 7-8.5s: still grinning, it touches one paw to its brow in a quick salute, then waves that paw at the camera. 8.5-10s: its mouth closes, it slumps back into the same splayed, belly-out sitting pose from the photo, front paws back on its chest, blinks slowly at the camera, and holds that to the final frame. Realistic fur and lighting, nothing else enters the frame, no text on screen. Sound: quiet living-room tone, a soft paw-pad clap on every clap, one short happy chirp at the salute.

We kept paws where the meme has human hands, on purpose. The clause "never a praying pose" went in after a first run that clapped once and then held its paws together for three seconds; spelling out "apart, together, apart again" is what produced the count.

What the Cat Dance AI Generators Actually Give You

The pages that rank for the keyword are tool pages, and the dance on all of them is a preset. Here is what each takes in and gives back, as listed on its page on November 6, 2026.

Frequently Asked Questions

What AI makes my cat dance?

Any image-to-video model that accepts a first frame and a text prompt. We used Seedance 2.5 on Atlas Cloud for both clips in this article. Among the tool pages, Kapwing names Kling Motion Control, which also wants a dance video to copy, and OCMaker names Seedream 5.0 Flash in its menu; the rest do not say.

How much does an AI cat dance video cost, and can I make one for free?

Atlas Cloud bills per clip. On November 6, 2026 a 10-second 720p clip was $3.04, a 10-second 1080p clip was $5.98 and a 5-second 720p test came to $1.52, each with a 20 percent discount already applied to list prices of $3.80, $7.47 and $1.91, and no end date shown. If you want a free try first, DreamFace's page advertises five free downloads of its preset dance.

Is the clapping cat meme AI-generated?

Yes. The Know Your Meme explainer from October 13, 2026 describes the original as an AI-generated cat with a human smile and human hands, posted by Instagram user merkurianin in late September, and it does not name the tool. The AR Cat Clapping effect reuses that one clip, while the CapCut Trend template is a generic clapping motion that you drop a cat photo into.

Does the template use my cat or a stock cat?

LA CALABZA, Cats Dancing and the AR Cat Clapping effect each carry a fixed cat; you supply the background. The CapCut template ai dance kicau mania and the Trend clapping template take a photo of your cat. The prompts in this article are the third option: your photo, your choice of moves, and no template.

Can I make my dog do the AI cat dance?

Nothing in the prompts is cat-specific except the description, so swap "kitten" and the fur for your dog and keep the time codes. We have only run them on cats, so test a dog on a 5-second clip before paying for the full 10. Our face swap meme guide covers the other pet trend, owners trading faces with their cats.

Conclusion

The cat filter of 2026 is really two clips: three kittens that dance on a green screen, and one black cat that claps with human hands. Between them they carry a template past 800,000 uses, a TikTok effect past 12 million plays on a single post, and almost no way to put your own cat in the picture.

One photo, one prompt and 10 seconds of Seedance 2.5 close that gap. Lock the fur and the room in the first sentence, write the moves on time codes, keep the paws as paws, and the AI cat dance you post is your cat, on your sofa, doing the thing everyone else's cat is doing.
