The Ba Ba Ba Dance: Who Started the Duo Trend, What the Song Is, and How to Make It With AI

The ba ba ba dance explained: the duo routine, the Tori Kelly Don't You Worry 'Bout a Thing remix, the CapCut template and a ba ba ba dance AI video.

Three vertical stills from AI-generated ba ba ba dance videos: a young woman in a plum lace blouse and a young man in an olive track jacket throwing both arms up in a sunlit library, the same pair as 3D animated characters leaning into the camera with big grins in a school hallway, and the 3D woman spinning alone with her ponytail flying past blue lockers

A phone leans against a library shelf. Two friends stand side by side, a voice sings "ba ba baa," and they groove in sync. Then one of them walks out of frame, the beat drops, and the other one owns the floor.

That's the ba ba ba dance. It started with one library video on October 2, 2026, and its sound was under more than 640,000 TikToks a month later.

We traced it to the original post, the song and the CapCut template people point to. Then we made our own 20-second AI version from two photos, timed so the first solo lands on the beat drop. Every prompt is below.

Key Takeaways

  • The ba ba ba dance is a two-person TikTok routine a DMV-area dancer created and posted on October 2, 2026, in a library.
  • Its sound is a DJ mashup of Tori Kelly's Don't You Worry 'Bout a Thing from Sing and Ca$h Out's She Twerkin.
  • The routine runs in four parts: side by side, a right-side solo, a left-side solo, then a synced finish.
  • The CapCut template tied to the dance is a green-screen Pickle Sahur duo that swapsincharacters, not photos.
  • Atlas Cloud's AI video generator turned two photos into a 20-second ba ba ba dance AI clip timed to the beat.

What Is the Ba Ba Ba Dance Trend?

It's a 34-second routine for two people and one propped-up phone. The dancers start side by side, each takes a solo, and they finish together.

The original post came from OTR.J5, a dancer from the DMV area, and a friend on October 2, captioned "Ba ba baa." It had about 607,000 plays when we checked on November 3. Copies spread within days: a stairwell version posted October 6 has passed 9.8 million plays, and many duets credit the moves to OTR.J5 in their captions.

Several other dances go by a similar name, so check which one you're looking at:

The Ba Ba Ba Dance Song: Tori Kelly's Don't You Worry 'Bout a Thing, Remixed

The sound isn't a released track. The trend runs on a TikTok sound that a producer's account uploaded on September 20, 2026, labeled "Don't You Worry Bout a Thing x She Twerkin." The chant that names the dance is Tori Kelly's voice.

How to Make a Ba Ba Ba Dance AI Video From Two Photos

Here's our 20-second run: two photos in, one library duet out, with the first solo starting right on the beat drop.

Animated clip of an AI-generated ba ba ba dance in a sunlit library: a young woman in a plum lace blouse and a young man in an olive track jacket groove side by side, she walks out of frame, he dances a solo with crossed arms and a finger pointed up, they swap, she solos with a ponytail spin, and both finish with their arms raised overhead

Atlas Cloud runs Seedance 2.5, ByteDance's video model that takes up to 30 reference images in one request and lets you tag each one in the prompt.

It renders any length from 4 to 30 seconds. At 20 seconds the clip reaches the moment the dancers line up again, so the TikTok sound fits it from the first frame. The one-click ba ba ba sites we checked stop at 15 seconds.

Method 1: Cast the Left and Right Dancers in the Atlas Cloud Video Generator

Sign in, open the Atlas Cloud Video Generator, and follow the numbers in the screenshot.

Atlas Cloud Video Generator on the Video Generation tab with Seedance 2.5 selected, two full-body dancer photos under Upload other references, the ba ba ba dance prompt, 9:16 and 1080p settings, a 20-second duration, Audio off and the Run button, with red boxes numbered 1 to 8 and the cursor on Run

  1. Click the Video Generation tab.
  2. Keep the model on Seedance 2.5.
  3. Leave First Frame and Last Frame empty. Under Upload other references, add the left dancer first and the right dancer second, so they become @Image1 and @Image2. The right-side dancer solos first, so put whoever should lead in the second slot.
  4. Paste the prompt. Ours:
plaintext
1One continuous vertical phone video with no cuts. The phone is propped on a library shelf at chest height, so the camera never moves. Scene: a bright modern library on a sunny afternoon, tall wooden bookshelves full of colorful books behind them, a light wood floor, warm sunlight from tall windows. The library is empty: exactly two people appear in this video and never a third.
2@Image1 is a young woman with sleek dark hair pulled back into a long low ponytail, in a dark plum lace-trimmed long-sleeve blouse, layered silver necklaces, high-waisted black jeans and black ankle boots. @Image2 is a young man with a short dark brown buzz cut, in an olive green track jacket, a white T-shirt, black cargo pants and plain white high-tops with no logos. Keep each face, hairstyle and outfit exactly as in their photo for the whole video. Whenever they are in frame they are shown head to toe, about two thirds of the frame height, with space above their heads.
3They do the ba ba ba duo dance: big, full-body hip-hop moves with arms fully extended, sharp hits on the beat and playful confident faces, never small shuffling steps.
4[0-4.5s] Side by side facing the camera, the woman in the plum lace blouse on the left and the man in the olive track jacket on the right. They groove in sync: two taps on the chest, a clap, shoulder bounces, a quick lean toward each other.
5[4.5-5s] The woman in the plum lace blouse walks out past the left edge of the frame and is completely out of view.
6[5-9s] The man in the olive track jacket steps into the center and dances a solo alone in the frame: arms crossed over his chest, one finger pointing at the ceiling, a deep hip roll, a turn to the side and back to the camera.
7[9-10s] The man in the olive track jacket walks out past the right edge of the frame while the woman in the plum lace blouse walks back in from the left.
8[10-16.5s] The woman in the plum lace blouse dances a solo alone in the center: big arm swings, bouncy steps, a quick spin with her ponytail flying, then both arms pointing up high.
9[16.5-17.5s] The man in the olive track jacket walks back in from the right and they line up side by side again, the woman on the left and the man on the right.
10[17.5-20s] Both dance the same moves in perfect sync: open hands pushing toward the camera, arm swings, knee bounces, and they finish together with both arms raised overhead, smiling at the camera.
11Realistic, natural body motion, clear faces, no text or captions on screen.
  1. Open the settings bar and pick 9:16 and 1080p.
  2. Type 20 into the duration box.
  3. Leave Audio off. The trending sound goes on when you post.
  4. Click Run.

Each bracketed time matches a cue in the sound: the 5-second mark is the beat drop and 17.5 seconds is where the pair reunites. Our Seedance 2.5 prompt guide has more patterns for timing lines. Use full-body photos; we turned two head-and-shoulders portraits into full-length studio shots with an image model before this run, because the routine needs legs and shoes.

Duo Dance AI Twist: Turn the Two of You Into 3D Characters

Some AI takes on the trend, like the Pickle Sahur template further down, swap the dancers for cartoon characters. You can do the same with your own faces.

Seedance 2.5 follows the look of its reference images, so the style has to live in the images. We converted each full-body photo into a 3D animated character first, using Seedream v5.0 Pro Edit on Atlas Cloud (any image model that keeps faces recognizable works). The prompt for the woman:

plaintext
1Turn this photo into a full-body 3D animated character in the style of a modern family animation film: stylized but still tall and slim proportions with long legs, slightly larger expressive eyes, smooth softly shaded skin, clean simple fabric textures and soft studio lighting. Keep her clearly recognizable as the same young woman: the same face shape, warm deep brown skin tone, big bright smile and sleek dark hair pulled back into a long low ponytail. Keep the same outfit: a dark plum lace-trimmed long-sleeve blouse, layered silver necklaces, small silver hoop earrings, high-waisted black jeans and black ankle boots. Same relaxed standing pose facing the camera, plain light grey background, her whole body from head to boots in frame. Fully 3D rendered, not a photo.

Then we ran the Method 1 steps again with the two character images, a 3D school hallway and a looser prompt:

Animated clip of the same pair as 3D animated characters doing the ba ba ba dance in a school hallway lined with blue lockers: they lean into the camera grinning, the man dances a solo, the woman spins with her ponytail flying, and both jump back in to finish with their arms up, laughing

plaintext
1Fully 3D animated in the style of a modern family animation film, matching the two 3D character images; nothing in the video is photorealistic. Framed like a casual phone video propped at chest height about one and a half meters away; the camera never moves. Wide lens, framed from the knees up so the characters fill the frame and their faces are big and clear. Scene: a colorful 3D school hallway with rows of blue lockers, shiny floor tiles and warm ceiling lights. Only these two characters appear in this video, never a third.
2@Image1 is the 3D animated young woman with sleek dark hair pulled back into a long low ponytail, in a dark plum lace-trimmed long-sleeve blouse, layered silver necklaces, high-waisted black jeans and black ankle boots. @Image2 is the 3D animated young man with a short dark brown buzz cut, in an olive green track jacket, a white T-shirt, black cargo pants and plain white high-tops with no logos. Keep each character's design, face, skin tone, hairstyle and outfit exactly as in their image for the whole video.
3They are two friends doing the ba ba ba dance trend for fun, not a polished performance: loose, bouncy street-style moves with bent knees, relaxed shoulders and a lot of upper-body groove. They are never perfectly in sync and never mirror each other: the woman is smooth and groovy, the man hits his moves harder and a beat late. They drift closer to and farther from the camera, lean in toward the lens, glance at each other and laugh, and the man fumbles one step and recovers. Hair, jacket and blouse move naturally with every bounce.
4[0-4.5s] Side by side close to the camera, the woman in the plum lace blouse on the left and the man in the olive track jacket on the right, grooving to the same moves in their own way: chest taps, a clap, shoulder bounces, a lean toward the lens.
5[4.5-5s] The woman in the plum lace blouse slides out past the left edge of the frame, laughing.
6[5-9s] The man in the olive track jacket steps into the center close to the camera and dances his solo: arms crossed over his chest, a finger pointed at the ceiling, a deep hip roll, a turn to the side, with a cocky little smile.
7[9-10s] The man in the olive track jacket walks out past the right edge while the woman in the plum lace blouse bounces back in from the left.
8[10-16.5s] The woman in the plum lace blouse dances her solo close to the camera: big arm swings, bouncy steps, a quick spin with her ponytail flying, then both arms up, grinning at the lens.
9[16.5-17.5s] The man in the olive track jacket jumps back in from the right and they squeeze side by side again, the woman on the left and the man on the right.
10[17.5-20s] They dance the finish together but each in their own style and slightly out of sync: open hands pushing toward the lens, arm swings, knee bounces, ending with arms thrown up overhead and both of them cracking up laughing.
11Smooth 3D animated motion with natural, imperfect timing, clear faces, no text or captions on screen.

Copy the third paragraph into any duet prompt. Telling the model they're two friends filming for fun, never in perfect sync, gave each dancer their own moves: they leaned into the lens, grooved out of step with each other and laughed through the finish.

Method 2: Send the Ba Ba Ba Dance Request Through the API

Building a duet app where two users each upload a selfie? The same model sits behind one endpoint.

Step 1: Create and copy an API key. Open Settings in your Atlas Cloud console, click Create API Key, and copy it right away; the list masks it afterwards.

Atlas Cloud console Settings page with the account details blurred, the API Keys panel open, a red box around the Create API Key button with the cursor on it, and one masked key in the list

Step 2: Check the request format. The API docs list every field for the Seedance 2.5 Reference-to-Video model, the one the Video Generation tab calls when you add reference photos.

Step 3: Submit the job and poll for the result. List the left dancer first in reference_images so the tags match the prompt:

plaintext
1curl -X POST https://api.atlascloud.ai/api/v1/model/generateVideo \
2 -H "Authorization: Bearer $ATLASCLOUD_API_KEY" \
3 -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
4  -d '{
5 "model": "bytedance/seedance-2.5/reference-to-video",
6 "reference_images": [
7 "https://your-cdn.com/left-dancer.png",
8 "https://your-cdn.com/right-dancer.png"
9 ],
10 "prompt": "One continuous vertical phone video with no cuts... (paste the full Method 1 prompt)",
11 "duration": 20,
12 "resolution": "1080p",
13 "ratio": "9:16",
14 "generate_audio": false
15 }'

The response carries a prediction ID. Poll it until the status reads completed and the clip URL appears in the outputs array:

plaintext
1curl https://api.atlascloud.ai/api/v1/model/prediction/<prediction_id> \
2 -H "Authorization: Bearer $ATLASCLOUD_API_KEY"

Video models on Atlas Cloud share this endpoint, key and polling loop. Change the model string and its fields, and the same code runs a different model.

Ba Ba Ba Dance Tutorial: Who Solos First and When

Learning it for real? The original and the 9.8-million-play copy we timed frame by frame follow the same order; only the moves inside each part change.

Timeline of the 34-second ba ba ba dance: side by side from 0:00 to 0:04 over the vocal intro, a right-side solo from 0:04 to 0:09 with the beat dropping at 0:05, a swap from 0:09 to 0:10, a left-side solo from 0:10 to 0:17, and both dancers back in sync from 0:17 to 0:34, with a bracket marking the first 20 seconds covered by the AI version

A few things the timeline doesn't show:

  • Keep the intro small. The first five seconds are voice only, so chest taps and shoulder bounces fit better than big moves.
  • Leave the frame completely. The soloist needs the whole shot, so the other dancer walks out of view rather than stepping aside.
  • Stand close to the phone. In the original, the dancer nearest the lens is cut off around the thighs, which keeps faces and arm moves big on a small screen.

The template puts two AI meme characters on a green screen: a pickle on the left and Tung Tung Tung Sahur on the right. They run the whole routine, though here the left character takes the first solo. The creator's promo post credits the moves to a TikTok dancer and suggests keeping one character while you dance the other half yourself.

Because it's a green-screen overlay, you bring your own footage, not photos. To put your own faces into the duet from two pictures, use the 3D route above.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I do the ba ba ba dance alone?

The routine needs two dancers, but not two people in the room. Film both halves yourself and edit them together, or upload one photo to the Video Generator and describe the partner in a sentence of the prompt: hair, outfit and which side they stand on. Seedance 2.5 casts the second dancer from that text.

If you'd rather post a trend built for one person, our missed train dance AI guide works from a single photo.

Where do I find the ba ba ba sound on TikTok?

Open a ba ba ba dance video and tap the sound name at the bottom of the screen. Look for the original sound from the producer's account rather than a re-upload, and note that it isn't filed under Tori Kelly's name. Tori Kelly's own recording has no She Twerkin beat under it, so the five-second drop that cues the first solo won't be there.

What does a 20-second ba ba ba dance AI clip cost on Atlas Cloud?

With two reference photos at 9:16, a 20-second clip costs $11.85 at 1080p or $6.02 at 720p. Both are 20% off list prices of $14.81 and $7.53 as of November 3, 2026. The Run button shows the exact price before you start, so you can test a prompt at 720p and switch to 1080p for the version you post.

Conclusion

Take away the library and the ba ba ba dance is four parts in a fixed order: together, right solo, left solo, together. The sound cues each change, which is why an AI clip timed to the beat drop fits it so closely.

Pick two photos, decide who stands on the right, and paste the prompt. Keep the real faces or turn the pair into 3D characters, add the original sound when you post, and your ba ba ba dance is ready to go.
