xAI Speech with Subsecond Latency

Developed by xAI, the xAI speech family creates natural, high fidelity audio with subsecond latency. Expressive tags shape pauses, whispers, emphasis, and pacing across 20 languages, while adjustable speech speed and text normalization improve control over delivery. Atlas Cloud provides a unified audio endpoint with consistent Unicode character billing and transparent standard pricing for production workflows.

xAI API Use Cases You Can Build on Atlas Cloud

Grok Imagine's image and video endpoints handle generation, editing, and animation from a single API. Teams use them to turn static assets into sound-on video content and to produce visual creative at a pace and cost that wasn't practical before.

Automated E-commerce Product Videos

E-commerce teams build pipelines that animate product images into short video clips using Grok Imagine Video v1.5, with ambient sound and product-context audio generated in the same call. A single product photo becomes a sound-on clip ready for ads and product pages without a video shoot or audio edit. At $0.096 per second on Atlas Cloud, a 10-second product video costs under a dollar.

Brand Ad Creative from Still Assets

Brand teams use Grok Imagine Video v1.5 to turn approved campaign photography into animated social ads with natively generated audio. Because audio and video tokens are produced in the same inference pass, dialogue, sound effects, and ambient music align with the visuals without post-production work. This removes the audio production step from the ad creative workflow entirely.

Film Pre-production Storyboarding

Directors and cinematographers use Grok Imagine Image to generate visual storyboards that show shot composition, camera angle, and lighting before production begins. The 2K resolution output is detailed enough to share with crew as a visual brief for each scene. At $0.06 per image, iterating through multiple shot options costs less than a single hour of production time.

Real Estate Lifestyle Video

Property developers use Grok Imagine Video v1.5 to generate cinematic lifestyle clips from architectural renders or interior photos. A balcony render becomes a sunset-view clip with ambient audio, a kitchen photo becomes a morning scene with natural sound. This replaces expensive lifestyle photography shoots for listings and pre-sale marketing materials.

Multi-reference Image Compositing

Creative teams use Grok Imagine Image Edit's 3-source input to composite elements from multiple reference images into a single output — combining a product shot, a background, and a lighting reference in one API call. This makes it practical to produce campaign variants that maintain brand consistency across different scene settings. Each composite is $0.06 per image on Atlas Cloud.

Indie Game Concept Art and Trailers

Small game studios use Grok Imagine Image to generate concept art during pre-production, then pass key frames into Grok Imagine Video v1.5 to produce animated trailer sequences. The video extension feature lets teams chain clips from a single starting frame to build longer cinematic sequences beyond the 15-second per-call limit. This workflow replaces external animation contractors for early-stage marketing content.

xAI TTS v1 API Questions, Answered

xAI TTS v1 is a text to speech model from xAI that converts written content into natural, expressive audio. Atlas Cloud provides it as model xai/tts-v1 through its shared audio generation endpoint.

It can produce narration, product voiceovers, accessibility audio, localized speech, and dialogue for voice applications. Expressive tags and adjustable delivery settings help match the generated speech to different scenes and audiences.

Send a POST request to https://api.atlascloud.ai/api/v1/model/generateAudio with Bearer authentication, the model value xai/tts-v1, your text, and a language setting. Then poll the prediction endpoint with the returned task ID or register a webhook for completion.

Atlas Cloud lists more than 80 voices and 20 language options, with automatic language detection available through the auto setting. The multilingual voices Ara, Eve, Leo, Rex, and Sal support every language listed in the endpoint schema.

Add inline tags such as [pause], [laugh], and [sigh], or wrap text with tags such as <whisper> and <slow> to shape delivery. Speech speed is adjustable from 0.7 to 1.5, while optional text normalization improves how numbers, abbreviations, and symbols are spoken.

Choose MP3, WAV, PCM, μ-law, or A-law output according to your playback or telephony requirements. Supported sample rates range from 8,000 to 48,000 Hz, and MP3 output offers bit rates from 32,000 to 192,000 bps.

Atlas Cloud bills xAI TTS v1 at the standard rate of $0.015 per 1,000 input characters. Billing counts Unicode characters, so one CJK character is counted the same way as one Latin letter.

Each Atlas Cloud request accepts up to 15,000 characters of text. Split longer scripts into separate requests and keep the same voice, language, speed, and output settings when you need consistent delivery across segments.

The current Atlas Cloud documentation describes an asynchronous workflow in which you submit a job and retrieve the result by polling or webhook. The request schema includes three latency optimization levels, but the public documentation does not confirm a direct Atlas Cloud WebSocket endpoint.
